I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a senior citizen. My wife Karla and I have been doing volunteer work as employment counselors. I am an avid genealogist. We love to travel and having 19 grandchildren gives us ample opportunity.
Our greatest joy is in service to others. We especially enjoy the peace and solemnity of the temple.
There is much said about Mormons not being Christian. This is such a distraction away from the main point of all religions which is to love the Lord and our neighbor. We can be, and ought to be, united in the pursuit of truth. As Joseph Smith stated in the Thirteenth Article of Faith: "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men. Indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things."
You, my friend, are a child of God. As my brother or sister, I implore you to be obedient to the heavenly parent. Come unto Christ and be perfected in Him. Let Him be the author and finisher of your faith.
